Oh how I love DIY sugar scrubs. They are SO easy to make and are usually just as good as anything you can buy at the store. I especially love sugar scrubs as gifts.
This peppermint and vanilla sugar scrub recipe can do wonders for your skin, especially in this cold and dry season. Its also great at easing tired muscles! The peppermint essential oil can seem a lot like Icy Hot, in that it makes your skin feel tingly and helps with soreness or muscle tension.
Then, the sugar will exfoliate while the oil helps to soften and moisturize your dry skin. Make some for yourself and then make some for all of your friends and family as a Christmas gift, they will LOVE it!

How to Make Peppermint Vanilla Sugar Scrub
Almost all sugar scrubs are a combination of sugar, oil, and something to scent it or color it. Usually essential oils are used to give it a pleasant but natural scent. This recipe uses peppermint essential oil and vanilla. Peppermint essential oil can have a really strong scent, so the vanilla extract helps to soften it up a bit and round it out. It almost makes it sweeter smelling!

I made this sugar scrub with the intention of adding it to a white elephant gift I was putting together. It already has a Christmas candle in it, some Christmas style bath fizzies and soap, so I thought a peppermint scrub would be the perfect addition.
Well, after I made it I had a small amount left over that wouldn’t fit in the jar, so I decided to use it in the shower that night. Mind blown. This is by far one of my favorite sugar scrub recipes I have ever tried and I’ve tried a few!
The consistency of the oil to the sugar is perfect. I don’t like it when scrubs are too oily; it makes them harder to use. Also, the peppermint is sooo nice in a hot shower.
A lot of times in the winter time if we have a sickness going around and are stuffy or have any respiratory issues, we’ll plug the water in the shower and add some drops of peppermint essential oil. It really helps with breathing especially combined with the steamy air. Well this works just the same!
I’ve decided I am keeping the jar of sugar scrub I made and I will just have to make a new one for my white elephant… and maybe twenty more for all my friends and family!
So, are you going to make some peppermint vanilla sugar scrub? If you try to make it as a gift I am confident you’ll find it difficult not to keep some for yourself! Enjoy!
This scrub sounds fantastic! I’ve heard peppermint really perks you up and energizes you in the morning. Thanks for the recipe. The jar looks cute!
