I don’t know how I have gone so long without using a dusting spray! I whipped up a bottle of this homemade, citrus scented dusting spray, and my DIY cleaning is forever changed.
If you are like me and haven’t tried using a dusting spray in your weekly cleaning, or maybe you use a commercial one and are looking for a natural, DIY alternative, this is for you!
This homemade dusting spray helps to clean any gunk off of your furniture and around your home, and it actually polishes as you go. Its especially great on wood furniture!
After using my DIY dusting spray, all of the wood pieces around our home looked clean, shiny, and NEW. I was really pleasantly surprised.
I don’t know if this happens to you, but sometimes when i am dusting, even if I’m using a microfiber cloth, it can seem like the cloth isn’t catching ALL of the dust. This spray wets the surface of everything so that ALL of the dust does get picked up and sticks to my cloth.
Let’s just say my dusting regimen is forever changed, and I can’t wait to keep using this new spray in my weekly cleaning.

Why Should You Make a DIY Dusting Spray
First of all, why should you even be concerned with making your own dusting spray?
Just like I mentioned above, it can do wonders on your furniture and around your home, adding extra cleaning power and a healthy shine.
It will help you to pick up ALL of the dust.
Maybe most importantly though, its all natural and has NO toxic ingredients. You can feel good using it around your home knowing that it won’t be harmful to you or your family.
I am all about good, old fashioned, natural cleaning over here so this spray fits the bill.

DIY Dusting Spray Ingredients
1 cup distilled water (distilled water, or boiled tap water, will help the solution to last longer)
1/3 cup white vinegar (for extra cleaning power, you can use up to 1/2 cup if you want extra cleaning power, or down to 1/4 cup if you can’t tolerate the smell)
1/4 cup almond oil (you can also substitute fractionated coconut oil or olive oil, all of which will help to nourish and shine, especially on your wood pieces)
30 drops of citrus essential oils (gives it an amazing smell!) I used a citrus blend because its one of my favorites, you can use any one or any combination of citrus essential oils. Lemon or wild orange would be lovely.
Glass bottles for spraying (glass is best, as the essential oils won’t have any effect on it) THESE are the glass spray bottles I use and I love them. They work great, are the perfect size, and I am a big fan of the amber color.
How to Make a DIY Dusting Spray
Be warned, its literally SO easy! If you don’t have distilled water, boil filtered tap water and wait until its cooled. Combine all of the ingredients in a glass spray bottle. Shake to combine.
How to Use Your Spray
Use your homemade dusting spray in your weekly dusting regimen. Shake the bottle well before each spray. This is very important because the oils will naturally separate and you want to make sure you’re getting the right portions of oil and water/vinegar on each spray.
Spray the solution on surfaces or directly on your cloth, and wipe clean. You may notice a slight vinegar smell along with the citrus smell. The vinegar smell will go away!
I hope you enjoy this homemade dusting spray as much as I have. Let me know in the comments below if you try it!
